A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out

Every family who is selected as a Habitat for Humanity Partner Family must proceed through an application process and meet the following basic criteria:

  • Live or work in Isabella County for at least 6 months
  • Demonstrate a need for adequate housing
  • Meet HFHIC income guidelines
  • Demonstrate the ability to maintain mortgage payments and home insurance
  • Willing to partner with HFHIC and contribute 250 “sweat equity” hours per adult on the construction of the home
  • Learn and accept all responsibilities associated with home ownership
